It’s has been five years since the Worldwise Learning Centre opened its doors for the first time to an audience of UCLan students and staff, embassy representatives, international organisations and local businesses. Sir Francis Kennedy unveiled the official plaque and the launch of UCLan’s new Worldwise Learning Centre was heralded by Samba drumming and a Japanese sword demonstration.
It has been five years since the Worldwise Learning Centre has been introduced as an initiative to promote the understanding of world cultures and languages both at University and across the North West. During these years, its main focus has been to provide the University Community with real and innovative opportunities to engage in learning a foreign language as well as with meaningful ways of sustained motivation and support to enhance their international capabilities.
Worldwise events and initiatives have been a huge success throughout the years enabling students and staff who ‘stay at home’ to benefit both from the greater cultural diversity of the local community and from the internationalised university environment.
We would like to take this opportunity and thank you for being part of the Worldwise Learning Centre and making every event and initiative a huge success.
To celebrate our 5th anniversary there are many events planned throughout the year with a Language & Culture Festival taking place in September. For details of all forthcoming events, connect with us.
